It is hard to believe that it has been five years since the launch of XBOX Live!
Back in 2002, I was the creative director responsible for the interactive portion of the launch—a tiered roll-out to a select group of XBL Beta Testers who in turn were rewarded with invitations to share with 5 of their closest friends—all leading up to the mainstream consumer launch. Our strategy of building desire through limited access, combined with a viral email campaign helped the XBOX team easily reach their goal of 200,000 users by the end of Q1, 2003.
Am I still an XBOX fan? Let's just say I am hoping to get Guitar Hero III this holiday season. Rock on, XBL! —Bernard Urban
